The Georgina Island Police have been in existence since 1978 under the Ontario First Nation Policing program, which is administered by the OPP. Prior to 1978, community constables provided policing services under the direction of the RCMP.
They currently have three uniform officers and one civilian employee.
The Georgina Island Police provide general policing services to Georgina Island, Snake Island and Fox Island and emergency response on the water and ice of Lake Simcoe.
