• The operation and maintenace of the plant and distribution system.

This operation is currently completed by one Level II operator and an operator in training.

Waste Management

Duties and Obligations:

• The operation and maintenance of waste management site.

This operation is currently completed by one waste management officer and one gate attendant. Georgina Island currently holds one refuse collection agreement with local contractor.

Community Buildings

Duties and Obligations:

• The operation and maintenance of all the community owned buildings including:
  • Community centre
  • Administration building
  • Church
  • School
  • Health centre
  • Apartments
  • Band owned housing
  • Firehall
  • Maintenance building
  • Ferry maintenance building
• These building are operated and maintained by outside contractors:
  • Landscaping
  • Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, heating, etc.

Roads

Duties and Obligations:

• All roads are maintained by the Chippewas of Georgina Island. Repairs and snow removal are performed by our own roads superintendent. Private roads are snow plowed by our own trucks and plows. Outside contractors perform major repairs.
• Georgina Island maintains the following roads:
  • Chief Joseph Snake Road
  • Loon Road
  • Bear Road
  • Sugar Bush Road
  • Rabbit Road
  • Root Road
  • Morning Road
  • Sandy Beach Road
  • Hello Road
