Field trips can be fun, memorable and worth the effort put into them.
Please be respectful while visiting our beautiful First Nation.
PLEASE NOTE: Without prior expressed or written consent, you could be charged with trespassing! Respect and avoid private properties – including Band Land. ATV use is not permitted on private land – except by the owner. ATV use is also not allowed on Band Land. Members are exempt, but must also adhere to these guidelines to help mitigate the spread of invasive species and prevent any damage to species at risk.
FOLLOW THE RULES: COURTESY, COMMON SENSE AND COMMUNICATION
1. Stay on the Path
Please visit Nanabush Trails for your hiking enjoyment, located on Hello Road. When walking the Nanabush Trail System, please stay on designated/posted trails. This is for your safety. Respect the environment and all its living creatures – you are the uninvited guest in their home. Stay on paths to avoid picking up seeds and spreading them elsewhere. ATV’s are NOT permitted on the Nanabush Trail System except by Maintenance Crews.
2. Clean Your Gear
Check all of your hiking gear at the end of your outing for plants and mud that might be carrying invasive plant seeds. Groom your pet at the end of the trail – keep invasive seeds from using your dog as a way to invade new areas. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times for their safety as well as that of others. Stoop and scoop your pets poop off trails.
Keep an eye out for ticks!
3. Do Not Disturb Wildlife, Alter or Remove Natural Features
Don’t stress wildlife by chasing, flushing, or making loud noises – this is their home. Learn their alarm signals. Even touching wildlife could be deadly due to stress and/or bacteria. Reserve the feeding of wildlife to backyard birds. Do not remove stones, rocks, animals, or vegetation – alive or dead. Leave natural features as you found them (i.e. overturned logs and leaves for cover). Do not cut or remove trees.
4. Zero Alcohol or Glass Containers Allowed On the Trails
Plastic bottles are to be carried out and thrown in designated disposal containers available at the end of the trail. Do NOT throw trash – dispose of any trash/recycling in its proper place. NO LITTERING!
5. DON’T RACE – RELAX YOU’RE AT THE COTTAGE!
OBEY all posted speed limit and other signage – you will be charged!! If you are worried about catching the Ferryboat, give yourself some extra time and leave earlier.
6. DON’T MOVE FIREWOOD!!
Many forest pests and diseases move to new locations on firewood. They may hide for a year or two or only a few months.
7. Report All Invaders ASAP!!
