
Councillor Dylan Beaudrow – BigCanoe serves the Chippewas of Georgina Island with a strong commitment to community well‑being, lifelong learning, and holistic health. As a member of Council, he brings an engaged and community‑focused approach to governance, grounded in Anishinaabe values and a deep respect for collective responsibility.
Councillor BigCanoe is the portfolio holder for Radio, Elementary and Secondary Education, Post‑Secondary Education, Recreation, and Health. In this role, he supports initiatives that strengthen access to education at all stages of life, promote community wellness, and encourage active, healthy lifestyles. He also advocates for effective communication and community connection through local radio and information sharing.
A certified Teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers, Councillor BigCanoe brings extensive professional experience in education. His teaching career includes work in Ontario, England, and remote regions of South‑East Africa, providing him with a broad global perspective on education, equity, and student success. He currently serves as a Trustee with the York Region District School Board and is also a member of the Georgina Health Board, contributing his knowledge and leadership to education and health governance beyond the community.
Through his work, Councillor BigCanoe emphasizes collaboration with educators, health professionals, program staff, and community members to ensure services are responsive, inclusive, and culturally grounded. He values the voices of youth, families, and Elders, recognizing their essential role in shaping strong and resilient community systems.
Councillor BigCanoe remains dedicated to supporting opportunities that uplift learning, wellness, and recreation while contributing to a healthy and vibrant future for the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation.
